Aster はラテン語で「星」を意味する、星は...夜にしか輝かない。それも微かな光で。前作のモノクロームかつRAWな作風から、アルバムアートワークが示すように色彩も鮮やかに世界は広がっている。そもそもRAWなシューゲイズを初期衝動で鳴らしていたのが前作、オルタナティブロック/インディーロックとしてしっかり確立したのが本作という捉え方が出来ると思います。
シューゲ/邦な前作から更に進化を遂げダウナーかつUKインディー味が増しているように感じるのは、ディストーションの歪みよりもより作品全体がコンセプチュアルな雰囲気で統一され、浮遊や静けさといった要素が楽曲ともうまく合致している所為かもしれない。また前作に感じられたようなセカイ系な雰囲気も薄れており表現の深さが進化したように思います。インタビューでSlint、Fugazi、Big Thiefといったワードが出てくるように、結構邦ロック的方法論じゃなかったのかもしれません。

Aster means “star” in Latin, and stars... only shine at night. And even then, only with a faint light. Moving away from the monochrome and raw style of their previous work, the world depicted here expands vividly with color, as the album artwork suggests. You could see their previous work as raw shoegaze driven by initial impulse, while this album firmly establishes them as an alternative/indie rock band.
The evolution from the shoegaze/Japanese rock-influenced previous work feels more downtempo and infused with UK indie flavor. This might stem from the entire work being unified by a more conceptual atmosphere, where elements like floating sensations and stillness align well with the songs, rather than relying solely on distortion. Additionally, the “Sekai-kei” (world-like) vibe present in the previous work has faded, suggesting a deeper evolution in expression.
