2020年代に結成された新鋭バンド、Butter Sugar Toast
各レコード店で売り切れが続出した話題作EP『Extended Play I』から4年、待望の1stアルバムが遂に完成。その名も『Long Play I』

全9曲、セルフレコーディング／セルフミックスという一貫したDIY思想のもとで構築された本作は、既存のメインストリームとは明確に距離を取りながら、“彼ら自身の音”を確立している。メインソングライターであるTakujiro Sadaeのルーツには、Hoover関連バンドをはじめ、90 Day Men初期、Shotmaker、Four Hundred Yearsといった90年代ポストハードコア／オルタナティブロックの系譜が色濃く流れている。

しかし重要なのは、それらの引用そのものではない。当時提示されていた表現を“現在の時間軸で本気で引き受ける”という姿勢そのものにある。懐古でも再現でもない。これは、正直過ぎるほどに誠実な、現在進行形のオルタナティブロックである。

Formed in the 2020s, Butter Sugar Toast emerge as a new force.
Four years after their debut EP Extended Play I—a release that quickly sold out across record stores—the band now present their long-awaited first full-length album, Long Play I.

Comprising nine tracks, the album was entirely self-recorded and self-mixed, built upon a consistent DIY ethos.
In doing so, it establishes a sound distinctly their own, standing at a clear remove from the mainstream.

At the core of the project, songwriter Takujiro Sadae draws from the lineage of ’90s post-hardcore and alternative rock—particularly bands orbiting Hoover, as well as early 90 Day Men, Shotmaker, and Four Hundred Years.

What matters, however, is not the act of reference itself.
Rather, it is the commitment to fully re-engage with what those bands once proposed—this time, within the present moment.

Neither nostalgic nor imitative,
this is alternative rock in its most honest and immediate form—unfolding in real time.
