スペイン・コルドバのポストハードコア・バンドViva Belgradoの2020年発表3rdアルバム。1st、2ndと激情に突き進んできたバンドが「ポストハードコア」というジャンルから道を踏み外していく様が見て取れる。これは最高傑作、やはりそう来なくては面白くない。でもこれは気付かれないと思うし、下手したら激情ファンから見限られてしまう危険もある。けれど奴らはやった。踏み込んだ。楽曲の振り幅は激情からローファイヒップホップまでという高低差半端ないギャップのある楽曲を1枚のアルバムとしてまとめるそのセンス、それはアルバムのモチーフとなるメロディ、フレーズを軸に違和感のありそうな楽曲も筋を通して突き抜けていくクラシカルな響き。「碇シンジ」「池袋サンシャイン」といった日本的キーワードも楽曲タイトルに見えるように、それはかつて日本がまだ世界の先を行っていた時代の残骸、彼らの持っている「日本」は幻であり、僕らにとってのノスタルジーとはまた別物。けれどエヴァンゲリオンは未だにゾンビのように生き続け、池袋サンシャインは墓標のように聳え立っている。生きることの焦燥感、哀愁、逃避。アルバム通して聴いたときに長いトンネルを抜けたような爽快感がある。2020年の現時点、今年のベストに食い込んでくるのは確実。
